MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUES THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING
A series of fronts is bringing multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall across the Alaska Panhandle as of early Friday morning. This second round of heavy rain has brought around 2 to 3 inches of rainfall to the area over the last 24 hours, with ongoing moderate rainfall rates of around 0.1 to 0.2 inches reported within the last hour. An additional 0.5 to 1 inch of rain is expected into late Friday morning as this system pushes out of the area. Highest rain amounts are expected for Baranof and Admiralty Islands, with locally lower or higher amounts possible due to terrain effects. Heaviest rainfall rates will come to an end through Friday morning with intermittent rain showers continuing through Friday afternoon across the area.
While these forecasted rain amounts are expected to bring rises to small creeks and rivers in the area, there is no flooding anticipated at this time.
