The full text and what to do

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Florida...

Withlacoochee At US 41 Dunnellon affecting Levy, Marion and Citrus Counties.

.The Withlacoochee River at Dunnellon has been steadily rising since July, and on September 15 reached flood stage. The cause of the high water along the Withlacoochee River at Dunnellon is due to excessive hydrilla growth (from the river bottom to the water surface) along a 4.5 mile stretch of river between US 41 and Lake Rousseau. The hydrilla is acting like a dam and holding water back, causing water levels to rise.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.

* WHERE...Withlacoochee at US 41 Dunnellon.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 28.2 feet, Docks and boat ramps flood along the river in Citrus and Marion counties.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 28.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 28.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to remain above flood stage at around 28.2 feet through the next 5 days. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Flood stage is 28.2 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 28.2 feet on 10/02/1979. - https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What to do

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.

The next statement will be issued Thursday afternoon at 200 PM EDT.

Coastal Volusia

FLMinorExpectedLikelyIn force from Sep 24, 5:00 PM EDT

The full text and what to do

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 4 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding expected.

* WHERE...Coastal Volusia County.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, from 8 AM this morning to 4 AM EDT Saturday. For the High Rip Current Risk, from 8 AM EDT this morning through late Friday night. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks and roadways may occur near the shoreline. Only isolated road closures are expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong, southward flowing longshore current is expected to develop in the surf zone, in addition to the other hazards.

What to do

Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking waves and dangerous surf conditions.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs.

Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
